Is This The End? #2. Here’s the Woman!

In the second part of the tryptich Is this the End?, the composer Jean-Luc Fafchamps, the librettist Éric Brucher, and the director Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski continue their exploration of limbo and altered states of consciousness. Entitled Here’s the Woman!, this latest chapter focuses on the character of the woman. We follow her as she journeys to find the highest form of love, struggling to rid herself of her last remaining earthly attachments. From a formal point of view, the project has undergone a new evolution: after the film in the first instalment, this time the spectator is invited to follow a performance involving digital audio and visual technology in the form of a living polyptych, diffracting reality like a tableau animé. In this project, which uses techniques that have never been used in opera before, coupled with a ‘live’ performance, there is an ever-increasing distortion of the relationship between reality and fiction.
